                        B I O G R A P H Y

Laura McCallum has lived and worked in Brooklyn since 1981. She began her career as a sculptor, and that three-dimensional sensibility guides all her work, which includes wall pieces and video art. Laura has had exhibitions throughout the East Coast including at the Brooklyn Museum, the Thomas Werner Gallery, Socrates Sculpture Park, the Maryland Institute of the Arts, and Long Island University. Her video work has been shown at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Emory University, and the Great River Arts Institute in Vermont.

She has also has exhibited in Washington D.C., Atlanta, Seattle, Rome, Aix-en-Provence, Berlin, and Moscow. She has been exhibiting with Mémoire de l’Avenir Gallery in Paris since 2019. McCallum has had residencies at Ucross in Wyoming, the MacNamara Foundation in Maine and EarthWatch in New Castle, England. Originally from Oregon, she was educated at Scripps College in Claremont, CA and at the University of Washington. She taught at University of Washington, Pacific Lutheran University, and the Spence School where she directed the Visual Arts Department.
